So are you doing "ACTUAL" work?

Was at Changi Airport last Friday coz Arun was leaving for Gold Coast. A small group gathered to wish him well. Besides Joanna, Sha n her friend were there along with Arun’s family to see him off. Had mix feelings abt him leaving. I was happy for him. Happy to know that now he’s off to get a degree, something which will definitely enhance his career much further. Sad in a sense that I wun get much of a chance to see him anymore. Back while he was still in Singapore I din think of asking him out. Rite now, I wish I had. Gonna miss ya buddy. You thought me a fair bit ‘bout life n assholes. Your wisdom can’t be replaced and ur unyielding attitude towards life is an inspiration. Take care of urself and go get ur degree man…

Caught the movie Jarhead yesterday. Jarhead is a moniker used for the military and basically this movie was a military flick abt a soldier’s life during the Iraq war. Rated M18 by the censors and for good reason too. The show had a bit of nudity but the language was “colourful” to say the least. The movie also gave the impression that American soldiers are rather sadistic, but when you watch the movie on the whole, you’ll realise how real it actually is. I really liked the show although my friend beside me wished for more blood n gore. There was one scene where the soldiers had to crawl thru mud under barbwire while being fired at with live rounds. This was to simulate real-time war conditions, but of course the live rounds were aimed above the barbwire. My friend in the office also went thru the same thing when he had his 3 months training in the army. We all got the impression that they used blanks but he stunned us all by saying in his own words “they’re f*cking real you idiot”. The last sentence in the movie was really powerful. “Whatever else he may do with his life-build a house, love a woman, change his son's diaper-he will always be a jarhead. And all the jarheads killing and dying, they will always be me. We are still in the desert.”

Caught the premier of The Pink Panther last nite… I really enjoyed the movie… it was the kind of movie where u’ll juz need to leave ur brain at home and enjoy it… hahaz… rather slapstick but the leads did a fantastic job… steve martin as always is hugely entertaining… and his sidekick, John Reno, was juz hilarious too… he usually does action flicks but this movie shows wat a comedian he can be too… I recommend u guys to catch it yeah…

The Long Weekend

Managed to catch The Long Weekend yesterday and I juz have one thing to say abt the movie… Dun waste ur time… in fact… especially since u have money to burn now coz of the “bai nian”… dun waste ur money on this show… it was really a let down… story’s abt 2 brothers… Cooper who is like sexually active… n Ed who isn’t… it’s Ed’s birthday and Cooper helps him get laid for the weekend… the plot’s kinda like Harold & Kumar but not as good… basically the story doesn’t link as well as compared to the latter… was rather disappointed with the whole show coz it wasn’t tat entertaining… not really tat comical… and was rather stupid lahz… hopefully Fearless will be better… catching it with my sis later in the evening after work… wow… the last time I watched a movie with her was like light years ago… if we’re talking abt Singapore then it was probably Rush Hour 2… hahaz… yes… it was tat long ago… but we did watch love actually over in the UK when I visited her back then… it was only then did I realize the seating system between the 2 countries work rather differently… over here u pick ur seat when u pay for it… over there… u pick ur seat only when u’re in the cinema… something like first come first served… anywayz… back to the main point… hope the movie’s good… but wat else can u expect from a Jet Li film other than flying kicks?

Wow… this indeed is a special occasion… dun get to see Derek these days… dun know why also… different lives I guess… ever since most of us left Bakerz we haven’t been tat close… most of us have already left… other than Jon Grace n Yen… anywayz… it was good to see them all again… triggered memories of how when we used to have supper after work... juz the bunch of us… we were like family… were… played some cards n half a “wind” of mahjong b4 we all left… wonder when’s the next time we’d be hanging out?
